Used motor oil, hydraulic oil and used cooking oil all arrive carrying the same problems: water, sludge and fine solids that make the oil harder to store, pump and reuse. A centrifuge separates those contaminants by density, so the oil you keep is cleaner and the waste you dispose of is concentrated into a much smaller volume.
Where the contamination comes from
Oil drained from engines and machinery carries wear metals, carbon and dirt. Oil held in open or outdoor containers collects condensation and rainwater. Used cooking oil brings food particles and moisture. Left alone, these settle into sludge that blocks filters and damages pumps.
How centrifugal separation helps
Spinning the oil at high force drives heavier water and solids outward to the bowl wall, while the cleaner oil flows out. Warming thick oil first lowers its viscosity, which lets contaminants separate more readily. Collected solids are removed from the bowl by hand, so there are no filter cartridges to buy and throw away.
Typical uses
- Cleaning used oil ahead of storage or reuse
- Preparing waste oil for use in waste oil heaters and burners
- Reducing the volume of sludge sent for disposal
- Cleaning used cooking oil collected from restaurants
