Backup generators at hospitals, data centers, telecom sites and industrial plants depend on diesel that may sit in a tank for months or years. When the power fails, that fuel has to work the first time.
Where the contamination comes from
Stored diesel slowly degrades. Condensation adds water, water supports microbial growth, and the resulting sludge and sediment collect in the tank. Lubricating and hydraulic oils in generating equipment also pick up wear particles over time.
How centrifugal separation helps
Fuel polishing circulates stored diesel through a centrifuge to remove water and sediment, helping keep reserve fuel usable between deliveries and generator tests. The same approach can be applied to lubricating oils to remove wear particles.
Typical uses
- Polishing diesel in standby generator tanks
- Removing water and sludge from bulk fuel storage
- Cleaning lubricating and hydraulic oils
