Oily water is produced by vehicle wash bays, workshops, industrial drains and many process lines. Separating the oil and solids out of that water is often the first step before the water can be handled further.
Where the contamination comes from
Oil, grease and fuel reach water through washing, leaks and runoff. Suspended solids come along with them from floors, equipment and the surrounding environment.
How centrifugal separation helps
Oil, water and solids have different densities, and a centrifuge uses that difference to pull them apart far faster than a settling tank. Free oil and suspended solids generally separate well. Tightly emulsified oil is harder to break and may need other treatment first, so share a sample description with us when you get in touch.
Typical uses
- Recovering free oil from oily water streams
- Removing suspended solids and sludge
- Reducing the volume of oily waste for disposal
Discharge rules for treated water vary by location. Always confirm what your local regulations require.
