The Quart-Jar Method
No special instruments are needed. Fill a clean quart jar from the centrifuge output and time it:
Quick Formula
- GPH = 900 ÷ seconds to fill a quart jar
- Seconds = 900 ÷ target GPH
- Example: 36 seconds to fill = 900 ÷ 36 = 25 GPH
- Example: target 40 GPH → 900 ÷ 40 = 22.5 seconds
Flow Rate Reference Table
| Seconds to Fill Quart Jar | Gal/Hr (900 ÷ Seconds) | Liters/Hr (approx.) | Gal/Hr from Liters (L/Hr × 0.264) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 18.0 | 900 ÷ 18.0 = 50.00 | 189 | 189 × 0.264 = 49.90 |
| 22.5 | 900 ÷ 22.5 = 40.00 | 151 | 151 × 0.264 = 39.86 |
| 30.0 | 900 ÷ 30.0 = 30.00 | 114 | 114 × 0.264 = 30.10 |
| 36.0 | 900 ÷ 36.0 = 25.00 | 95 | 95 × 0.264 = 25.08 |
| 45.0 | 900 ÷ 45.0 = 20.00 | 76 | 76 × 0.264 = 20.06 |
| 60.0 | 900 ÷ 60.0 = 15.00 | 57 | 57 × 0.264 = 15.05 |
| 75.0 | 900 ÷ 75.0 = 12.00 | 45 | 45 × 0.264 = 11.88 |
| 90.0 | 900 ÷ 90.0 = 10.00 | 38 | 38 × 0.264 = 10.03 |
| 112.5 | 900 ÷ 112.5 = 8.00 | 30 | 30 × 0.264 = 7.92 |
| 180.0 | 900 ÷ 180.0 = 5.00 | 19 | 19 × 0.264 = 5.02 |
Note: Using a liter jar? Multiply target seconds by 1.057. Example: 25 GPH = 38.1 seconds with a liter jar.
