The #1 Cause: Bowl Flooding
Most vibration traces back to a flooded bowl — oil enters faster than it can exit. Resolve flooding before investigating mechanical causes.
Vibration Causes — Diagnostic Checklist
| # | Cause | Diagnosis / Fix |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Feed rate too high | Match hose/pipe size to flow. Reduce feed rate. See table below. |
| 2 | Undersized drain | Drain must handle full output flow. See Feed Rates manual. |
| 3 | Double-dip drain (P-trap error) | Sag in output hose creates secondary trap blocking flow. See P-trap manual. |
| 4 | Restricted drain | Inspect hose and fittings for kinks, clogs, or undersized connections. |
| 5 | Loose spindle lock | Spindle housing clearance is 0.003". If spindle spins, tolerance is destroyed. Spindle lock is Loctited — do not remove. |
| 6 | Bowl disassembled | Bowls are balanced to 0.1 gram. Any disassembly permanently destroys balance and voids warranty immediately. |
| 7 | Slow bowl fill at speed | Always fill bowl rapidly during spin-up. Dribbling oil into a spinning bowl causes severe imbalance. |
Maximum Feed Rate by Hose and Pipe Size
| Max Flow (GPH) | Minimum Hose ID | Minimum Pipe (NPT) |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 15 | 1 inch | 3/4 inch NPT — never smaller |
| Up to 25 | 1.25 inch | 1 inch NPT |
| Over 25 | 1.5 inch | 1.25 inch NPT |
NEVER use less than 3/4" NPT or 1" ID hose on any US Filtermaxx centrifuge output. Undersized plumbing is the leading cause of flooding and vibration.
