System Overview
A complete centrifuge installation connects four main components in series:
| Component | Function | Key Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Supply Tank | Stores raw/dirty oil | Elevate for gravity feed; use pump for best results |
| Heater | Warms oil to processing temperature | Target 120–180°F for most oils |
| Ball Valve | Controls flow rate | Install between heater and centrifuge inlet |
| Centrifuge | Separates contaminants by G-force | US Filtermaxx open-bowl, leg-mount model |
| Clean Oil Output | Discharges processed oil | Must include P-trap — see P-trap manual |
| Sludge/Waste Drain | Discharges concentrated waste | No P-trap; drain to waste container |
Flow Sequence
Supply Tank → Heater → Ball Valve → Centrifuge → Clean Oil (P-trap) + Sludge Drain
Valve and Piping Guidelines
- Use a full-port ball valve to minimize restriction
- Install valve between heater outlet and centrifuge feed inlet
- Verify flow rate with quart-jar timing method after valve adjustment
- All piping must be oil-compatible; avoid rubbers that swell in petroleum
