What Is Centrifugal Separation?
A US Filtermaxx centrifuge subjects incoming liquid to up to 20,000 times the force of gravity (20,000 G). This extreme force rapidly separates liquids and solids by density: heavy phases (water, debris) migrate outward while clean oil exits through the clean-output port. Solids are drained as slurry or scraped from the bowl.
Supported Applications
| Application | Materials Processed | Primary Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Industrial Oils | Process, hydraulic, press, wire-drawing lubricants | Extended oil life, reduced disposal cost |
| Cutting & Grinding | Cutting oils, grinding fluids, glass/stone slurry | Solids removed, fluid reused |
| Diesel Polishing | Stored or active diesel fuel | Removes dirt, water, and algae |
| Waste Oil (WMO/WVO) | Waste motor oil, waste vegetable oil | Clean fuel or biodiesel feedstock |
| Black Diesel | Waste motor oil blended with solvent | Low-cost alternative diesel fuel |
| Biodiesel Processing | WVO feedstock, finished biodiesel | Faster than settling — hours vs. days |
| Algae Harvesting | Bioreactor / pond algae | Dewatering for fuel, feed, or research |
| Yeast Extraction | Fermentation broths | Biomass concentration |
How Centrifugal Separation Compares
| Method | Separation Force | Typical Time | Continuous? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gravity settling tank | 1 G | Hours to days | No |
| Bag / media filter | 1 G (pressure assist) | Slow — clogs | Limited |
| US Filtermaxx Centrifuge | 2,400 – 10,000 G | Minutes | Yes (with auto controller) |
Note: For liquid-liquid separation (oil/water), clean oil exits continuously while the water/sludge phase is periodically purged.
